Outlook Tip: Sending Email on Schedule

Have an e-mail that it seems you send out on a regular schedule? Or maybe you have a message you want to send, but not right away, maybe tomorrow at 4:00pm and you can't forget about it. It's true you could type the e-mail up, save it in your "Drafts" folder and then send it later, but what if you forget about it? Or if your sick that day? So how can you do this? Simple really. Type up your e-mail (I'm using this e-mail as the example) that you want to send out, select your recipients and add any attachments you want to the message. Once the message is ready to go, click on the VIEW menu and select OPTIONS. Near the bottom is a "Do not deliver before" area when you can set a date and time that the message will be sent out. After you set this, click Close and then Send your message. Your message will sit in the Outbox until the date and time you set pass (i.e. this message was set to 8/29/2005 at 8:00am and when out on 8/29/2005 at 8:01am). And in case your wondering, "yes" it will still send the message out if you have Outlook closed or aren't even logged into your computer!

One note.

We've found that because we operate in a WAN (Wide Area Network), we run Outlook in cache mode. While in cache mode, scheduled email will not send until you login after the scheduled date and time.
