Windows Scripting

As most networks have, every day at various times we have different tasks that need to be done here on the network. Most of these tasks are repetitive and someone is manually doing these. The previous network administrator and converted most of these into some DOS style batch files that would handle the majority of the work. A new process that we now need to do requires interaction with Windows, which some of these DOS batch files won't do. We also have a copy of WinBatch, but I thought it might be better to look into the Windows Scripting built into Windows 2000, XP and 2003. Over the past week I've been reading the book Microsoft Windows Scripting Self-Paced Learning Guide, which has been alright so far. I also downloaded an editor just for Windows Scripting, VbsEdit, which is really very good. The only thing missing is a tabbed interface. Overall, I'm very impressed with Windows scripting. You can use it to manipulate the file system, read the fan speed on your CPU, create an Excel spreadsheet chart and manage different tasks on your network such as adding users to your Active Directory.
