Windows XP on a Mac
Lately the release of the BootCamp beta software from Apple has generated a lot of interest in booting Windows XP on a Mac product. Why? Well, besides the fact that Apple hardware is just plain cool looking, and that Apple provides all of the drivers for the hardware to work, the ability to run both OS on a system and have it supported is pretty cool.
But PC's, and Macs, have been able to do this for a while. A company called Parallels has released a software product called Workstation that allows you to run Windows XP on your Mac in a virtual machine, just like Virtual PC before it. So while it's cool and exciting, it is really new? Not that I see.
That all being said, having a MacBook Pro that I can use Mac OS X for personal/home stuff and Windows XP that I can do business/development on, even though it's been around, is still appealing.
If Apple could add to their Rosetta feature the ability to run Windows applications on the Mac OS X system I think they would have a much more viable position for business use.
