JavaServer Pages, 3rd Edition

I've been trying to read "JavaServer Pages, 3rd Edition" and I'm struggling with it. I just don't like how the book was written, the source code for the classes used isn't available and it's just frustrating to try and understand even with the code for the book downloaded. I can't seem to find many good resources for JavaServer Pages 2.x and I'm starting to wonder if it's a fading technology.
