Creating CD-ROM Image on the Mac

Step2.png

I often need to have a file copy of a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM that I can then upload to a server to use. To create this type of file I use the Disk Utility application in Mac OS X 10.5 as follows:

  1. Insert the CD or DVD into the optical drive
  2. Open the Disk Utility application
  3. Select the optical disc from the menu on the left
  4. Click on the File menu
  5. Click on the New command
  6. Select "Disk Image From...."
  7. Provide a file name for the image file
  8. Set "Image Format" to "DVD/CD Master"
  9. Make sure "Encryption" is set to "None"
  10. Click the "Save" button
  11. After the image is created, you need to change the ".cdr" file extension to ".iso"
