Today I pulled an older, Dell PowerEdge SC420 system that wasn't being used from our server rack. We wanted to use this unit for a graduate student here in the department, so I needed to load Windows XP Professional on the system. The hard drive controller is a Dell CERC 2S RAID controller, actually made by Adaptec, but Windows XP didn't have drivers for it.
I ended up downloading the Windows Server 2003 drivers for the hard from Dell, here, and put those on a floppy disk. I specified the driver when Windows XP setup was starting (F6 on the initial text mode setup screen), and pointed it at the floppy disk, viola!
