Symantec Backup Exec
In February of 2006 we decided to replace our current tape backup solution (Linux at the time) with a Windows solution. We decided on Symantec Backup Exec and this software package has been constantly inconsistent for our server backup.
Random errors for a server not completing it's backup successfully, heavy disk fragmentation and communication problems with our new tape library. Last week our Exchange server quit successfully backing up. I've been using the Symantec DirectAssist to try and troubleshoot these problems and the support has been sub-par.
I decided to look at alternatives but the ones I tried, CA ARCserver, Yosemite TapeWare and EMC Restrospect I found very un-intuitive. Needless to say it's back to using Backup Exec. This program irritates me.
